End of Watch: Saturday, October 2, 1999
Lieutenant Larry Sherwood Kolb was on his way home from work when he volunteered to answer a shots fired call. Cautiously approaching the residence, he identified himself as a deputy when a shot fired by an assailent armed with an AK-47 rifle took his life. Officers responding on the scene found the suspect hiding underneath a mobile home. The suspect opened fire on them as well and was killed when the officers returned fire. Lieutenant Kolb honorably served the citizens of Kendall County for over 3 years. He was survived by his wife and two young sons. |
